Ever wonder what professional stadiums do the weeks before opening day? How do they prepare their fields to look so pristine? Here are the steps Mike Morvay takes when preparing First Energy field for opening day!

  • Cut the field down to one inch
  • Aerate, topdress and fertilize to get the field moving
  • Rebuild the bullpens, main mound, homeplate area and infield with mound clay.
  • Condition area.
  • Grade and water the infield and start working the conditioner too skin.
  • Sit back and wait for growth in grass
  • Start mowing a pattern into field
  • Wait for the team to get in and have your opening day!
